Love to ski, tube or snowboard? Is ATV riding your thing? Horseback riding make you happy? Hiking and exploring waterfalls, rivers, lakes and streams get you excited? How about leaf peeping, bird and wildlife watching, kayaking, fishing, hunting, canoeing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting or ziplining? We are a stone's throw from all of these things! Our 100 year old farmhouse is located almost at the top of Flat Top Mountain, the highest elevation in southern West Virginia and on the opposite side of the mountain from Winterplace Ski Resort. With beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere, come and take a deep breath of fresh country air and relax. Your stay is in our family’s 95+ year old farmhouse with great WiFi speeds and flat screen smart televisions. You can conduct Zoom meetings and work from “home” in the separate, sunshine filled office. We have a fully equipped gym located in a separate 2 story outbuilding and facilities to house your horses, ATVs, canoes, kayaks and mountain bikes. You will have your own personal, private farmhouse located in the heart of the outdoorsman’s paradise. Feel free to workout in the gym, walk to the top of the mountain, store your ATVs, kayaks, canoes, mountain bikes, or other outdoor items in the outbuildings (bring your own lock). Hang out on the back porch and watch the deer, turkeys and other wildlife graze in the fields, build a snowman(bring your own carrot nose) and take a sleigh ride down the hills or stay inside and watch the snow fall while drying your mittens on the radiators. I am available to chat if you’d like suggestions on things to do or see or have any questions whatsoever. Country setting with quick and easy access to I-77 by going down either side of the mountain on Route 19. Winterplace is approximately 10 minutes away and the Dept of Highways has snow removal down to a science. ATV, horse, your own two feet or automobile. There are so many outdoor activities to experience while staying with us, that it's virtually impossible to list them all. However, I will take a shot. From our house you can access the CC Trail (2 minutes away) an ATV, auto, mountain bike and horse trail that extends all the way to McDowell County, Blueberry Hills blueberry farm (5 minutes), Winterplace Ski Resort (10 minutes), Skyline Lodge Pub & Grill (5 minutes), Camp Creek State Park (horse friendly park with beautiful water falls and a swimming hole, 15 minutes) , Glade Springs Resort (golf, spa, fine dining) (15 minutes) for the fancier folk, Little Beaver State Park (20 minutes), Bluestone State Park and Dam (30 minutes), Pipestem Resort (offering trail rides with their horses or bring your own) (30 minutes), Pipestem Drive In (30 minutes), Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park (30 minutes), Grandview State Park (home of Theatre WV and live performances of The Hatfields and McCoys), Concord University (30 minutes), both the New and Gauley Rivers (40 minutes), Harmony Hills Equestrian Center (40 minutes), Mountain Lake Resort (where parts of Dirty Dancing were filmed) (50 minutes), Pinnacle Creek-Hatfield-McCoy Trailhead (1 Hour), Pocahontas Trail System (1 Hour), Historic Bramwell (1 Hour), Historic Hinton (40 minutes), The Summit Bechtel Reserve (location of the Boy Scout Jamboree) (40 minutes), Historic Fayetteville and Thurmon, a deserted ghost town (40 minutes). There's also the Mystery Hole (don't forget to get the bumper sticker), Hawk's Nest scenic overlook, Babcock State Park (with a working grist mill) and so much more.
